Cambo Snowdrops has been selling snowdrop bulbs ‘in the green’ for over twenty years.
Based on the fact that success depends on the snowdrop bulb not drying out and the knowledge that gardeners regard autumn as the traditional time for planting bulbs for flowering the following spring, over the past few years Cambo has been trialling the planting of ‘damp-packed’ snowdrops in the autumn and is now able to offer them for sale.
These bulbs are dug just as they are beginning to develop underground, from areas of woodland, which have been specially planted with single and double snowdrops and with snowflakes.
They are then sorted by hand and carefully packaged to ensure they arrive with the customer without drying out.
